New contract award: Stofix UK secures contract for Coombe Boys School
We’re proud to announce our latest contract for the Coombe Boys School redevelopment in New Malden. This education sector project, commissioned by the Department for Education (DfE) and led by Bowmer + Kirkland, will transform the school with two new buildings designed by Jestico & Whiles Architects. Work started this week, marking an exciting step forward in this project.
Redevelopment overview
The current layout and building stock at Coombe Boys School are inefficient and energy-intensive. As part of the Government’s 10-year school rebuilding programme, this project aims to transform the site to better accommodate pupils and staff, reduce costs, improve noise and air quality and increase usable external space.
The DfE has tasked Bowmer + Kirkland with planning for the future of the school, working closely with Coombe Boys’ senior leadership team and Kingston Council to ensure the best outcomes for students and the wider community. The project will replace 11 existing buildings with three, retaining one and introducing two new structures:
- Sports and performing arts block (NB01) – Delivery in July 2025 to Innovare Offsite’s Coventry factory.
- Teaching block (NB02) – Delivery in November 2026 following demolition and temporary relocations.
Stofix’s contribution
We’re pleased to be supplying our high-quality brick slip façade solutions for this project, chosen for their durability, sustainability, and ease of installation.
The lightweight design of Stofix panels makes them ideal for offsite manufacturing, aligning with Innovare Offsite’s modular construction approach. This enhances efficiency while preserving the traditional aesthetic of brickwork.
For the sports block, we will use Feldhaus R286 bricks in a stretcher bond, while the teaching block will feature stretcher and vertical running bonds for feature panels – ensuring both structural integrity and visual appeal.
