Team Insights: Operations Director explains Stofix UK culture
Alex Porter, Stofix UK Operations Director tells us about the culture and opportunities working at Stofix UK, a fast growing company.
How would you describe the culture at Stofix UK?
The business has been built from the ground up so as a result the people employed throughout the business have an interest is seeing it succeed. I’ve been with the business for nearly 10 years, with a high percentage of the staff being here even longer. Everyone understands what must be done on a day-to-day basis to make it succeed and work really well as a team.
What is your role at Stofix UK?
I am the operations director for Stofix UK. I joined Caxton Group in November 2014, moving to Stofix UK in 2020.
What is your background before joining Stofix?
I began my career over 23 years ago so have a broad range of experience in the construction industry. I worked for Hepworth Concrete, EH Smith and Travis Perkins in sales and business development roles. I then moved to Caxton Group to set up buying/estimating before progressing to Caxton Group operations director.
What would you say at the main advantages of working for Stofix?
Stofix UK is a relatively new business in the Group and we are seeing rapid growth. We are always looking for new ways to improve our offering and bring in new talent. Working for Stofix means new people bring new ideas, and different view points. It’s important we take these on board and to ensure our staff are engaged and feel they are adding value to the business.
How would you describe the career progression / opportunities within the business?
Everyone here has a voice… making a positive impact will always be met with an open and positive response. As the business grows, we will have a better understanding of what we require for the future. Individuals who ‘shine’ will be given opportunities to develop their careers if they have the vision and determination to do so. Plus as we expand, senior positions will naturally become available.
What would you say to someone who is thinking of working for Stofix UK?
Stofix UK is at the start of a long journey, one which we expect to be successful. We have a completely unique product in the market with endless opportunities throughout a number of sectors.
